TITUSVILLE, Fla., October 29, 2026 — The City of Titusville is pleased to announce the selection of Tyler “TJ” Wright as its new chief of police. Wright will lead the Titusville Police Department, overseeing public safety operations, community engagement and the continued delivery of professional law enforcement services to Titusville residents, businesses and visitors.

Wright brings 19 years of law enforcement experience, having served in various roles within the Titusville Police Department, from police officer to deputy chief. He graduated from the Brevard Community College Law Enforcement Academy in 2007 and earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice administration from Columbia Southern University in 2021. He is also a 2024 graduate of the FBI National Academy and earned a master's degree in public safety from the University of Virginia in 2025.

Throughout his career, Wright has demonstrated a commitment to public service, professional excellence, accountability and building strong relationships between law enforcement and the community.

“Public safety is the foundation of everything we do as a city,” said City Manager Tom Abbate. “Chief Wright has served Titusville for 19 years. He knows our neighborhoods, our schools and our people, and he understands that good policing starts with relationships. I have full confidence he will build on the department’s strengths and keep Titusville a safe place to live, work and raise a family.”

As chief of police, Wright will focus on maintaining public safety, strengthening community partnerships, supporting department personnel and promoting transparency and accountability. His appointment reflects the City’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality public safety services and fostering a safe and welcoming community.

“I am incredibly honored to have been selected to serve as the next Chief of Police for the City of Titusville,” Wright said. “Throughout my career, I have always believed that leadership is not defined by the rank you wear or the title you hold, but by the people you serve, the relationships you build and the impact you leave behind. I believe our greatest investment will always be in our people, and I am committed to developing the next generation of leaders while embracing innovation, accountability and transparency, and at the same time preparing the department for the evolving public safety needs.”

Wright is expected to assume his new role Nov. 2, 2026. His appointment marks a new chapter for the Titusville Police Department as it continues its commitment to public safety, community trust and professional excellence.
