About Satellite Beach · City guideBrevard County guide →
Satellite Beach covers about three square miles of barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and the Banana River, just south of the Air Force base and north of Indian Harbour Beach. The community began in 1956, when three brothers and their cousin from North Carolina bought about 130 acres and started building houses for the growing aerospace workforce; it incorporated as a city in 1957. Pelican Beach Park and Samsons Island Nature Park are among its recreation spots.
