Palm Bay to Celebrate Driskell Memorial Park Upgrades With Nov. 4 Ribbon-Cutting
Palm Bay will cut the ribbon Nov. 4 on grant-funded Driskell Memorial Park upgrades: renovated restrooms, rebuilt basketball courts and new sidewalks.
Palm Bay will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday, Nov. 4, to mark the completion of improvements at Driskell Memorial Park in the city's northeast.
The public event runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the park, 2155 Monroe St. NE. The city announced the ceremony Oct. 30 and invited residents and community members to attend.
The work was paid for through the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. According to the city, the project includes three main upgrades:

- Restrooms: The restroom building was renovated with a new stucco exterior, tiled interior finishes, upgraded fixtures, improved lighting and roof repairs.
- Basketball courts: Both basketball courts were fully reconstructed, with new goals, bleachers and improved court access.
- Sidewalks: About 1,000 linear feet of new, eight-foot-wide concrete sidewalk was installed to improve accessibility and movement through the park.
The city said the improvements reflect its continued investment in neighborhood parks and in creating safe, accessible public spaces for residents and families.
Driskell Park closed for the renovation work this spring and has since reopened. The park also offers a playground, pavilions, a gazebo, grills, picnic tables and pickleball/tennis courts, according to the city's facility directory.
