Palm Bay is looking for an outside organization to take over running the Palm Bay Aquatic Center, and it has set a Dec. 1 deadline for groups that want the job.

The city announced Thursday, Oct. 29, that it has issued a Request for Qualifications, Solicitation No. 01-RFQ-27, seeking qualified organizations or partnerships interested in assuming operational responsibility for the center. The solicitation was posted Oct. 26.

Questions about the solicitation are due by Nov. 9. Qualifications must be submitted electronically through the city's Bonfire procurement portal by Dec. 1. The city said respondents may need to create a free Bonfire account to view the documents and submit.

According to the city, the solicitation follows its earlier public process to gather information and explore possible operating models for the facility, which included a presolicitation meeting in October. Background material, supporting documents, key dates and links to the official solicitation are posted on the city's Aquatic Center Future Operations webpage.

The Aquatic Center, at 420 Community College Parkway SE, is currently scheduled to close to the public on Nov. 30 while the city works to identify a sustainable future operating model.

Questions about the solicitation go to the city's Procurement Department at City Hall, 120 Malabar Road SE.
