Palm Bay Mayor Rob Medina released his October 2026 Mayor's Message on Oct. 1, reflecting on recent remembrances and pointing residents toward several community events in the weeks ahead.

Opening with "It's a great day, Palm Bay!", Medina looked back on the city's Patriot Day Remembrance Ceremony, held Sept. 11 at Sacrifice Park to mark 25 years since the 2001 terrorist attacks. He thanked everyone who attended and wrote that the community carries forward a promise that "we will never forget." The city has shared video highlights of the ceremony.

The mayor also marked three years since the Oct. 7, 2023, attacks on Israel, saying he stands with Israel in remembering the victims, and recognized the U.S. Navy's 251st birthday on Oct. 13.

As Hispanic Heritage Month comes to a close, Medina encouraged residents to attend the 29th Annual Puerto Rican Day Parade & Festival on Saturday, Oct. 24, hosted by U.T.B. United Third Bridge, Inc. The parade steps off at 10 a.m. from Turner Elementary School, heads north on Emerson Drive and west on Malabar Road, and ends at Palm Bay City Hall, 120 Malabar Road SE. A multicultural festival with live music, cultural entertainment, food vendors and family activities follows at City Hall until 7 p.m. The event is sponsored by Palm Bay Gary Yeomans Ford. More information is available from United Third Bridge at (863) 381-4858.

For Halloween, the city's free Fall Fest is set for Saturday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Fred Poppe Regional Park, with trunk-or-treat, a costume contest, spooky hayrides, food and craft vendors, music and games.

Looking ahead, Palm Bay's annual Veterans Day Parade will be held Saturday, Nov. 7, at 10 a.m. It begins at the Tony Rosa Community Center and travels east on Port Malabar Boulevard to Veterans Memorial Park, where the mayor said good viewing areas are available.
