Driskell Park Reopens, Liberty Park Debuts New Hockey Rink in Palm Bay
Palm Bay's renovated Driskell Park and a new professional-size hockey rink at Liberty Park were set to open to the public Saturday, Oct. 3.
Palm Bay residents have two upgraded places to play. The City of Palm Bay Parks & Facilities Department said Driskell Park, at 2155 Monroe St. NE, and a new hockey rink at Liberty Park, 895 Carlyle Ave. SE, were scheduled to open to the public Saturday morning, Oct. 3.
Driskell Park is reopening in full after several significant improvements. According to the city, the work added new 8-foot-wide sidewalks that improve ADA access throughout the park, completely renovated the restrooms and refurbished two basketball courts. The park's playgrounds are also open to visitors.
At Liberty Park, the new professional-size rink is available for open skating and a range of recreational activities, including roller hockey, futsal, box lacrosse and pickleball. For now, only court lines are provided, so the city says players are welcome to bring their own portable nets and equipment.

The rink's north-facing gates will stay open for general public access. The south gate will remain locked, though the city said it may be opened for scheduled rentals and special events.
The city is inviting residents to visit both parks and enjoy the improved recreational amenities.
