We’re now at the peak of hurricane season. And while it’s been a quiet one so far, we could still  have a hurricane or tropical storm at any time before November 30. Preparing your yard early can help keep you, your property and our community safer should a strong storm come our way.

Hiring a landscaper or contractor? Remember, landscapers and contractors are responsible for removing debris generated from their work. Make sure debris is properly hauled away and not left at the curb.

Check for Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) that could spill during a storm and dispose of it properly.

Sarno Landfill & Transfer Station accepts HHW free of charge for Brevard County residents, Monday–Saturday, 7:30 a.m.– 5:30 p.m. For more information, call 321-255-4452.

Once a storm threatens, refuse and recycling collection will stop when winds become unsafe or impractical for collection trucks and landfill personnel. Collection may stop well before the storm arrives, so early preparation is key.

Prepare early. Stay safe. Keep Melbourne ready!
